Why are the iOS and Android apps now both called TslaMirror?
The iOS and Android apps were both previously called TeslaMirror. Both platforms now use the name TslaMirror; the Android app has been renamed to match iOS. Older guides and screenshots may still show TeslaMirror. The existing App Store and Google Play listings, support website, and platform-specific casting addresses remain the same.
How to mirror Android to Tesla Model 3 or Model Y
- Update the Tesla infotainment system when an update is available.
- Connect the Tesla to the Android phone’s hotspot. MCU2 or MCU3 hardware is required.
- Use a 5 GHz hotspot when possible. Tesla vehicles do not support Wi-Fi 6 access points.
- Open TslaMirror and make sure Tesla Proxy is on.
- Tap Start to begin screen broadcasting.
- For version 9.82 and later, open https://TSL6.com in the Tesla browser. MJPEG, H.264, and H.265 all use this HTTPS entry; https://TeslaMirror.net:9999 is the direct fallback.
Is TslaMirror free?
TslaMirror for Android is free to download from Google Play. This website does not distribute a separate APK.
During the trial, full-screen, Single-app and Android Auto Casting each have a separate allowance of 15 free minutes per day. After the trial, full-screen casting keeps 15 free minutes per day with default video settings; Single-app Casting, Android Auto Casting and custom video settings require Premium. Check the app's Premium page for your trial end date. Premium offers unlimited casting through a monthly subscription or a one-time lifetime purchase. Existing paid-app users keep lifetime Premium access.

Now Playing, screen controls and recovery in 10.10
How do I show track information and artwork in the browser?
In Classic Mirroring (full-screen), Single-app or Android Auto, enable audio on the casting page and grant TslaMirror notification access. The current media app can then provide its title, artist, album and artwork to the browser’s media controls. Notification banner forwarding does not need to be enabled. Available information depends on the media app and browser support.
What if artwork is blank, stale or does not match the track?
Version 10.10 improves consecutive track changes, artwork changes within the same track and text updates, and prevents outdated information from replacing the current track. If artwork fails to load, valid text stays visible with a default image while loading is retried. Check web audio and notification access; sync can resume after the connection or notification access is restored. The media app and browser still determine which information is available.
Can I turn the phone display off while using Classic Mirroring?
Yes. In 10.10, open Settings in the web toolbar to turn the phone display off while continuing to mirror, then turn it back on. The controls support MJPEG, H.264 and H.265.
The screen control feature requires Android 11 or later, wireless debugging pairing and local service setup on the phone. Complete these steps on the phone before using the controls. Turning the display off through the web controls does not lock the phone. See Classic Mirroring screen controls.
How is the display restored after disconnecting or folding the phone?
Classic Mirroring attempts to restore the display when the web page closes, the connection drops, casting stops, the mode changes or the app exits. Mode changes wait for restoration confirmation. Reconnecting the web page does not automatically turn the display off again.
On foldable phones, restoration continues to track the original screen that was turned off, including after folding, unfolding or switching inner and outer screens. If restoration is unconfirmed, return to the original folded or unfolded position and select Retry screen restoration. Debug logs remain accessible during recovery.
How do I record or export screen debug logs?
In the app’s main Settings, open Debug logs below Language. Recording is off by default. Enable it to record only information about turning the display off, turning it on and restoring it. You can view, copy, share as text or clear the logs to help report a screen issue. Existing logs can still be exported after recording is disabled.
Screen settings, status messages and debug log text are available across all 29 existing interface languages.
Connection and permission troubleshooting
Why does Classic Mirroring ask for screen-capture permission again, or show a capture permission error?
Android’s screen-capture consent is separate from Tesla Proxy’s VPN permission and Remote Control’s Accessibility permission. If the capture permission has expired or is already in use, stop another active mirroring or recording session, then tap Start in TslaMirror and confirm the new system request.
Switching Proxy on does not grant screen capture, and an earlier session’s permission does not guarantee that a new session can start. If the system capture session has ended, restart it before adjusting video quality. Android’s capture documentation explains that capture can stop when access is withdrawn.
What should I do if the app says port 9999 is already in use?
This means the local server could not use the required port on the phone. Stop other mirroring or local-server apps, use TslaMirror’s Exit command, reopen it and start again. If the same message remains, restart the phone and try TslaMirror before starting another casting app.
Use the HTTPS casting address shown by the app. Changing the URL to an old IP address or changing video quality does not free an occupied port. If it keeps happening, note the exact port number, app version and whether it follows a mode switch when contacting support.
Android Auto shows a blank page from the start. What should I check first?
Confirm that Android Auto is installed and its initial setup is complete. Follow TslaMirror’s Android Auto checklist to enable developer mode, start the Head unit server and grant the requested permissions. Starting the server alone does not start casting; return to TslaMirror and start Android Auto Casting. If setup assistance cannot finish, use the manual steps shown in the app.
Check the hotspot and Tesla Proxy, then reopen the current casting page. Try Classic Mirroring with an ordinary phone screen as a comparison: if that works but Android Auto has no first picture, focus on Android Auto setup and its status message. Wireless debugging pairing belongs to Single-app Casting and is not required for Android Auto. See the Android Auto guide.
Why can I open the support website but not the casting page?
The support website is public, but the casting page is served by the Android phone. Keep the Tesla connected to the hotspot of the phone running TslaMirror, enable Tesla Proxy and start casting. Enter https://TSL6.com in the browser address bar, or use https://TeslaMirror.net:9999 as the direct fallback. An unrelated Wi-Fi connection or another phone’s hotspot does not provide this local connection.
If an old casting page remains after an update, reload it once. If necessary, use the vehicle’s Controls → Service → Clear Browser Data option, reviewing the selected data before confirming. A DNS lookup error needs network troubleshooting, not a change of video format. Do not replace the HTTPS hostname with a numeric IP or bypass a certificate warning.
Why does Android 17 ask for Local Network permission?
TslaMirror runs a local server on the Android device so that the car browser can connect. On Android 17, grant the app’s Local Network permission when prompted. If it was denied, use the app’s Open app settings shortcut to allow it, then retry casting.
This permission is separate from Tesla Proxy’s VPN authorization, screen-capture consent and Accessibility access. Allowing one does not grant the others. See Android’s local network permission documentation.
Tesla Proxy will not stay on, or “Review and allow” shows no dialog. What should I check?
Open Android’s Settings → Network & internet → VPN (the path varies by manufacturer). Check whether another VPN has Always-on VPN or automatic connection enabled. Temporarily disconnect that VPN and disable its Always-on setting, then return to TslaMirror and try Tesla Proxy again. A competing VPN can prevent the authorization dialog from appearing.
Confirm that the system VPN request has been accepted. If Proxy still cannot start with the latest app, try Standard proxy mode. Once the basic connection works, follow the separate third-party VPN guidance if you need both apps.
When should I enable Standard proxy mode?
Leave Standard proxy mode off for normal use. Enable it in TslaMirror settings only if Tesla Proxy or the VPN does not start normally after the basic permission and competing-VPN checks.
This fallback uses the original proxy behavior without keeping virtual IP addresses active. Stopping Proxy or switching VPNs can interrupt casting; restart Tesla Proxy if that happens. It does not change the browser’s HTTPS connection address. See the 9.95 release notes.
Why does casting stop when I switch apps or leave the phone idle?
Check the phone’s app battery settings and allow TslaMirror to run in the background. Some manufacturers also require an unrestricted battery setting or an auto-start permission. Follow the manufacturer-specific settings guide rather than assuming every Android phone uses the same menu.
Also distinguish background restrictions from screen locking and casting time limits. For supported screen-off use, follow Classic Mirroring screen controls or Single-app Casting. The daily free allowance and idle cleanup are separate limits.
Can I use an Android phone without a SIM card?
A SIM is not required solely for local mirroring. The Android device can use another available Internet connection, provided the phone supports the required Wi-Fi and hotspot combination. For example, Wi-Fi sharing may let the phone obtain Internet access from another network while the Tesla stays connected to the casting phone’s own hotspot. Support depends on the phone.
Internet access is still needed for services such as initial domain resolution, Google Play purchase checks and online media. This is not a promise that every feature works fully offline. The documented iPhone setup uses cellular Personal Hotspot and has different requirements.
Sound, picture quality and stopping the app
The phone picture appears, but a video is black or only has sound. How do I narrow it down?
While parked, test Classic Mirroring with the phone Home Screen or Settings, then a video you recorded yourself in an app that permits capture.
- The interface updates but one video is black: the source app or protected content may prevent video capture, audio capture or both. Seeing menus, subtitles or artwork does not establish that the video itself can be captured. Check app compatibility.
- Every screen is blank or frozen: check screen-capture consent, the hotspot, Tesla Proxy and the casting page. For H.264/H.265, try the other decoder option or video format as described in picture troubleshooting.
- Only Android Auto has no first picture: use the Android Auto startup checks.
Premium does not remove content protection. A black screen alone is not enough to diagnose DRM or declare a phone model incompatible.
The phone screen is visible, but Tesla touchscreen input does nothing. How do I enable control?
For Classic Mirroring, enable Remote Control in TslaMirror and allow its Accessibility service in Android system settings. Check that the service is connected, not merely that permission was previously granted. VPN and screen-capture consent do not grant remote input. Android control does not require the iOS TslaMouse accessory.
Single-app Casting uses its paired local service and virtual-display controls; Android Auto uses the controls of supported Android Auto apps. Follow the setup for the mode in use.
If only part of the Classic picture stops accepting touches after the toolbar hides, update to 10.10 or later and see the toolbar touch fix. For misplaced input after resizing, check the current page and display layout.
Why is the picture narrow or surrounded by empty space, especially on a foldable phone or portrait Tesla screen?
Classic Mirroring preserves the phone screen’s shape, which may not match the car browser. Rotate the phone if the source app supports it; increasing resolution alone does not change the aspect ratio. Single-app Casting uses a separate virtual display and can make better use of the browser area on compatible apps and devices. See the mode comparison.
Android Auto adapts to the available browser area in 10.09 and later. Adjust content size separately from its fixed 480p, 720p or 1080p resolution. Resizing the browser does not change the selected resolution, and some spacing depends on Android Auto’s own layout.
These settings change content inside the webpage. They do not move Tesla’s browser window, rearrange the vehicle dashboard or override full-screen and browser restrictions.
The image works but audio is silent or unstable. What should I check?
Enable audio for the chosen casting mode, start media playback on the phone, then tap the audio control on the casting webpage. Touch the page to reveal hidden controls. Check the vehicle’s volume and selected audio source. If using Bluetooth instead, pair the phone with the car and select Bluetooth audio.
In current Classic Mirroring, MJPEG, H.264 and H.265 all support lossless browser audio over HTTPS on Android 10 or later. Older advice that MJPEG has no audio is no longer current. If 96 kHz audio is unstable, try 48 kHz. Third-party apps can block audio capture independently of video; see compatibility and Now Playing requirements.
How do I reduce stutter or improve a blurry Single-app picture?
Use a stable 5 GHz hotspot. Start with H.265 and moderate resolution and quality; lower bitrate, resolution or frame rate if playback stutters, then increase one setting at a time. Try H.264 if H.265 does not play. In the browser, use hardware decoding when it works; software decoding is a fallback if hardware playback fails.
For Single-app Casting, leave Match browser pixel density (DPR) off on MCU2 (Intel Atom) to avoid an unnecessarily large video image and extra processing load. On MCU3 (AMD Ryzen), enabling it can improve sharpness, but also increases load when the browser reports a higher pixel density. It is separate from text/UI size. See the Single-app settings.
How do I fully exit TslaMirror, or restart it if Start no longer responds?
On the Android app, open the Settings icon at the upper right → three-dot menu → Exit to close the app cleanly. Stopping a cast and fully exiting the app are different actions. If Start does not respond after Stop, use Exit, reopen the app and prepare the connection again.
If the problem repeats after updating, note the casting mode, video format and app version when contacting support. Restarting is a troubleshooting step, not confirmation that the underlying issue is fixed. If the phone display was turned off through the webpage, check screen restoration before leaving the session.
Common questions
What do the three Auto-start buttons do?
Classic Mirroring (full-screen), Single-app, and Android Auto offer Auto-start buttons that combine preparation and startup. Assistance can turn on the hotspot, start Tesla Proxy, and handle wireless pairing or Android Auto head unit server preparation. Other available steps continue if one cannot finish, and unfinished items are shown. System permissions still require your confirmation.
Tapping a mode’s Auto-start button stops any other active casting mode and switches to that mode. Progress distinguishes waiting for permission, phone readiness, and browser connection.
How do I start casting on Bluetooth connection, and why might it not trigger?
This feature is off by default. Choose a paired Bluetooth device and target casting mode, then automatic startup or a notification you can tap to continue on the next connection. Automatic startup requires an awake, unlocked phone and a connected accessibility service. If Android restricts opening the page in the background, return to the app or tap the notification.
Use Test now and view the latest result. Check that the rule is saved, the feature is enabled, the device is connected, and the required permissions are granted. The page explains failures and suggests next steps.
Bluetooth triggers leave existing casts running, and disconnecting Bluetooth does not stop an active cast.
How does wireless pairing assistance handle the pairing code?
After you approve an assistance attempt, TslaMirror can open Wireless debugging, enable it if needed, open the pairing window, read the six-digit code, and complete pairing. It then tries to return to the original page and continue preparation. Codes are processed only on your phone and are not saved or uploaded.
If you must open Wireless debugging manually, follow the prompt and assistance can continue afterward. Manual code entry through the notification remains available. Manually enable USB debugging and keep it on while using offline casting; no USB cable is needed. See the pairing steps.
Does hotspot assistance change my hotspot name or password?
No. After you review the prompts in the casting checklist, assistance uses your existing hotspot name, password, and band. It skips the action if the hotspot is already on. Once startup is confirmed, it tries to return to the original page with your position preserved, and results update with system status. Single-app and Android Auto also include preparation checks for the hotspot, vehicle connection, and mobile data.
Why are there fewer webpage buttons, and why do Android Auto controls disappear?
Single-app and Android Auto initially show controls and audio buttons. Expand for other actions or use the separate settings button. Android Auto controls hide after 45 seconds without interaction and reappear when you interact with the page. This is separate from automatic cleanup after 15 minutes without browser access.
How do I change the app and casting page language?
Version 10.03 adds 27 language options. Choose a language in Settings or follow your system language. The app and casting pages use the same language, with improved right-to-left layouts for Arabic and Hebrew. See the complete language list and release notes.
Do I need to refresh the browser after switching casting modes or updating the app?
Once the updated casting page is open, starting, stopping, or switching between full-screen, Single-app, and Android Auto casting on the phone automatically shows the matching page or returns to the waiting screen.
Version 10.09 improves cache handling. If page resources are incompatible or an automatic switch does not finish, an update message and Reload page action help you return to the current casting page.
How do I pair another Wi-Fi network or recover Single-app casting after a connection failure?
Stop casting, then choose Pair another Wi-Fi network in Single-app settings. Existing pairings are kept. When the current connection is not ready, Step A shows Pair / check connection; a six-digit pairing video tutorial is also available.
With an existing pairing and an available connection, opening the Single-app page automatically prepares casting, and Start can wait for preparation. Version 10.09 continues trying to recover after network changes or temporary failures and checks multiple previously successful connections. A temporary failure no longer always means you must pair again.
Check that Wireless debugging and USB debugging are enabled, then check wireless debugging connection status and offline casting service readiness separately. Keep USB debugging enabled while using offline casting. No USB cable is needed.
Wireless debugging is unconfirmed, but casting still works. Is this normal?
Yes. In Step A of Single-app Casting, the wireless debugging connection and the offline casting service have separate status indicators. Even if the first item says the wireless debugging connection is not currently confirmed, you can still cast when the second item is green and shows “Ready · Offline casting service connected”.
This is normal, especially when using the app in the car with the Tesla connected to your phone’s hotspot. If casting is working and the second item is green, you can continue using it. You do not need to pair again just because the first item is unconfirmed.
Keep USB debugging enabled while using offline casting; no USB cable is needed. If the second item is not ready and casting does not work, follow the connection recovery steps.
Where are recent apps and the phone battery level?
The Single-app launcher groups running and recently opened apps, maps and navigation, music, multimedia, social, and productivity apps. You can remove individual recent entries or clear the recent list. The launcher, control panel, and browser address bar show matching battery information, including charging, external power, and low-battery status.
Can phone notifications appear on the Single-app casting page?
Yes, if you enable Forward system notifications to the virtual screen in Single-app settings and grant notification access. It is off by default. New notifications can appear briefly at the top of the casting page; people viewing the page can see their contents. TslaMirror does not save notification history.
This optional notification access is separate from allowing TslaMirror to show its own six-digit pairing notification. Now Playing information also uses notification access, but does not require notification banner forwarding.
How do I choose Android Auto apps, fit the picture, and start the head unit server?
Use Android Auto’s built-in app menu on the casting screen. Resolution is fixed at 480p, 720p, or 1080p, with 720p as the default. The former Automatic setting becomes 720p after updating; existing fixed selections are kept.
Version 10.09 adapts the layout to the browser’s available area to improve spacing and touch alignment. Readjusting after a window size change preserves your selected resolution and other video settings. It also fixes repeated reloads caused by audio bar changes on some Intel Atom systems and improves audio continuity during readjustment.
Complete Android Auto’s initial setup and enable developer mode before using accessibility assistance to start the head unit server. An automatic attempt when entering the Android Auto casting page is optional and off by default. Follow manual guidance if assistance cannot finish; Step A still provides a video tutorial.
Why did Single-app apps close or Android Auto stop after 15 minutes?
Single-app and Android Auto each have an automatic cleanup setting, enabled by default and adjustable in their own settings. After 15 consecutive minutes without browser access, Single-app casting closes apps on the virtual screen while keeping the casting page available. Android Auto stops casting; tap Start to cast again.
A connected browser keeps casting active while you watch or listen, without requiring touch input. This cleanup timeout is separate from the daily free casting allowance.
Can I cast one Android app to Tesla with the phone screen off?
Yes, on compatible devices. TslaMirror 9.86 introduced Single-app Casting, which runs an app on a separate virtual display and can continue playback while the phone is locked or its display is off. It requires Android 11 or later and wireless debugging pairing. Follow the A–E checklist in the app, then choose an app on the phone or in the Tesla browser's App Launcher. See Single-app Casting setup and requirements. DRM-protected apps may still block capture.
Which permissions and debugging settings does Single-app Casting need?
Single-app Casting requires Android 11 or later and wireless debugging pairing. Connect to trusted external Wi-Fi and enable Wireless debugging and USB debugging. Enable USB debugging manually in Developer options and keep it enabled while using offline casting; no USB cable is needed.
You can approve accessibility pairing assistance, or allow TslaMirror notifications and enter the six-digit code manually through the notification. Wait for “Ready · Offline casting service connected” before switching to the vehicle hotspot setup. Optional system notification forwarding is not required.
For background and screen-off settings, follow the permissions and settings guide by phone manufacturer.
Can I use Android Auto on Tesla, and does it need wireless debugging?
TslaMirror supports Android Auto Casting inside the Tesla browser, with supported navigation and music apps. It requires Android 9 or later, an installed and working Android Auto app, and the in-app setup steps, including starting the Head unit server and granting microphone and other required permissions. It does not require wireless debugging pairing. Single-app Casting still requires Android 11 or later and wireless debugging pairing. See Android Auto setup and requirements and the 10.09 release notes.
How do I mirror an Android phone to a Tesla?
Connect the Tesla to the Android phone's hotspot, open TslaMirror, enable Tesla Proxy, tap Start, and open https://TSL6.com in the Tesla browser. Version 9.82 and later requires HTTPS; https://TeslaMirror.net:9999 is the direct fallback. The vehicle must have MCU2 or MCU3 hardware.
Where can I download TslaMirror for Android? Is there an official APK?
The official download is TslaMirror on Google Play. This website does not provide a separate Android APK. Avoid third-party APK files that cannot be verified as an official release.
Use a device with working Google Play and Google Play services, and a network that can reach them for store and purchase checks. Installing an app package alone does not establish compatibility. Try the free casting allowance on your phone and vehicle before deciding to purchase Premium.
Why do searches mention 3.3.3.3, 100.99.9.9, 6.6.6.6, or 7.7.7.7?
3.3.3.3 is an old Android TslaMirror browser address. TslaMirror still uses 100.99.9.9 internally as a local virtual IP, but the Tesla browser no longer supports opening it directly. Neither IP is a current user-facing connection URL. 6.6.6.6 and 7.7.7.7 belong to other mirroring apps and are not official TslaMirror addresses. TslaMirror 9.82 and later requires HTTPS for MJPEG, H.264, and H.265. Open https://TSL6.com, or use the direct HTTPS fallback https://TeslaMirror.net:9999.
Why does TslaMirror require VpnService?
Tesla browsers block standard private-LAN ranges such as 192.168.*.*. TslaMirror uses a virtual IP and a local VPN tunnel so the Tesla browser can reach the web server on the Android device. The VPN does not connect to a public VPN server, redirect traffic from other apps, or collect data or logs.
What can I try if the Tesla browser shows DNS_PROBE_FINISHED_NXDOMAIN?
If the Tesla browser shows “This site can’t be reached” with DNS_PROBE_FINISHED_NXDOMAIN, it could not resolve the casting hostname. This may involve DNS handling on the current network or hotspot. First check the complete HTTPS casting address shown in the app. Switching between H.264 and H.265 alone does not fix a DNS lookup failure.
Here, encrypted DNS means Android’s Private DNS feature, which encrypts DNS queries to reduce the risk of eavesdropping or tampering in transit.
On compatible devices, an advanced option is a combined encrypted DNS + Shizuku + Shizzi setup. The approach is to first configure encrypted DNS and confirm that the casting page opens in the phone’s browser, then use Shizuku with Shizzi to make hotspot-connected devices use the phone’s working DNS path too. Changing Private DNS on the phone alone may leave the Tesla using a different DNS path. Follow the complete sequence:
- Configure encrypted DNS on the phone first. Open Private DNS in Android’s network settings, note your original setting, and select the provider hostname option. Try
dns.google(Google) orone.one.one.one(Cloudflare), one at a time, and save. - Verify the result in the phone’s browser before setting up hotspot sharing. Use the mobile data connection that will serve the hotspot, with Tesla Proxy and casting running. Open a browser on the phone and enter the complete HTTPS casting address shown in TslaMirror, such as https://teslamirror.net:9999, in its address bar. Confirm that the casting page opens normally. Only continue to hotspot sharing after this test in the phone’s browser succeeds. If the phone still shows a DNS error or cannot open the casting page, first resolve any DNS or network issues on the phone.
- Extend that working DNS path to the hotspot with Shizuku + Shizzi. Once the test in the phone’s browser succeeds, follow the Shizuku setup guide to start Shizuku, then authorize Shizzi on a compatible device. Use Shizzi to run a hotspot that shares VPN traffic, so hotspot-connected devices can use the phone’s working DNS path. Follow the projects’ current setup and compatibility instructions.
- Reconnect the Tesla to that hotspot, keep Tesla Proxy and casting running, and retry the full HTTPS casting address shown in TslaMirror, such as https://teslamirror.net:9999. A returned IP address is not an alternative browser entry.
This advanced workaround is not guaranteed to work; results depend on the phone, Android version and network configuration. If you also use a separate VPN app, see the third-party VPN guidance. If a DNS change disrupts connectivity, restore your original setting. If the error persists, ask your carrier to investigate DNS resolution for hotspot-connected devices and share the different results from the phone and the Tesla.
Can I use a third-party VPN while casting with TslaMirror?
This may work on some configurations, depending on your phone, third-party VPN, and network settings. Follow this startup order:
- Open TslaMirror first and start Tesla Proxy, its local VPN.
- Start casting and confirm that both TslaMirror’s VPN and browser casting work.
- Leave TslaMirror running in the background.
- Then open the third-party VPN and connect it.
Bringing TslaMirror back to the foreground may disconnect the third-party VPN again. If that happens, put TslaMirror back in the background and restart the third-party VPN connection.
Make sure 100.99.9.9 is allowed through the third-party VPN’s direct-routing / bypass rules. Some VPNs already bypass this address through their built-in local-network rules; others require you to add it manually to the bypass or allow list.
100.99.9.9 is a routing exception, not the current browser entry address. Continue using the complete HTTPS casting address shown in the app. See the 9.90 release notes for the related improvements.
Which features use Accessibility permission?
Remote Control uses the accessibility service to translate Tesla touchscreen or mouse input into phone actions. Version 10.09 also offers accessibility assistance for wireless pairing, hotspot setup, and Android Auto head unit server preparation after you approve the assistance.
The app shows permission and service status separately, with a shortcut to system settings. Bluetooth auto-start requires the service to be connected. Pairing codes stay on your phone and are not saved or uploaded.
Is Netflix supported?
No. DRM-protected apps may block video, audio, or both. This includes Netflix, YouTube TV, Amazon Prime Video, Hulu, and similar services.
Which video mode should I use?
For MCU3 (AMD Ryzen), H.265 at 720p/60 fps is recommended. Tesla software 2025.38.11 and later also makes H.265 the recommended mode on supported MCU2 vehicles. Use lower resolution or frame rate if playback is not smooth.
Does every Android device support 96 kHz lossless audio?
No. Lossless audio is available on Android 10 and later, but 96 kHz compatibility depends on the device, Android version, TslaMirror version, and playback hardware. 48 kHz is generally well supported.
Updated September 22, 2026: Pixel 9a with Android 17 and the latest TslaMirror app now supports 96 kHz audio in our testing. Earlier Pixel 9a tests did show problems with the older software combination. Pixel 5 also worked well in earlier tests.
An Android update may have improved the underlying audio support, but we have not isolated the cause from app updates. Update Android and TslaMirror, test 96 kHz, and switch to 48 kHz if audio is unstable or missing. Hi-Res playback still requires compatible playback hardware.
Does mirroring use Internet data?
Mirroring traffic stays inside the phone hotspot network. The Tesla may still use the phone’s cellular data for its own online services while it is connected.
Purchase and subscription help
How do I request an Android refund if the store’s refund button is missing or does not work?
For purchases billed by Google Play, sign in with the purchasing Google account and use Google Play’s refund request guide. On the Google Play website, open profile → Payments & subscriptions → Budget & order history, find the purchase and use Report a problem when available. If the order is missing, check the account used to buy it.
If that route is unavailable or the purchase needs developer assistance, contact app support for help reviewing it. Eligibility depends on the purchase and the applicable Google Play refund policy; submitting a request does not guarantee approval. To stop future monthly charges, manage the subscription separately. iOS purchases use Apple’s refund process.
How do I redeem a Lifetime Premium promo code for Android?
- Update TslaMirror from Google Play, open it once and keep the phone online. In Google Play, select the account that should hold Lifetime access.
- Open Google Play → profile → Payments & subscriptions → Redeem code. Alternatively, use Premium → Redeem a lifetime promo code in TslaMirror. If a browser opens, check its Google account too.
- Enter the complete code and finish Google’s confirmation. Check that it refers to TslaMirror Lifetime Premium. A complimentary Lifetime code should show a zero total if an amount is shown; it does not require a paid order or monthly trial.
- Return to TslaMirror, tap the crown icon to open Premium and let the purchase check finish. If needed, tap Restore purchases once and check for Premium active and Lifetime access.
Redeem through only one route. The code’s redemption deadline is the last date to use the code, not the expiry date of successfully activated Lifetime access. See Google Play’s redemption guide and delayed activation.
My promo code was redeemed successfully, but Premium is still missing. Can it take a day?
Yes. A successfully redeemed promo code can sometimes take about one day to become effective in the app, even when the account, connection and purchase checks show no identifiable problem. Immediate activation is not guaranteed, and repeated checks may not reveal the cause.
After confirming the correct Google account and successful redemption, wait about 24 hours. Then keep the phone online, reopen TslaMirror, open Premium and check the status again; use Restore purchases after any current check finishes. There is no need to repeatedly redeem the code, buy the same access again or start a monthly trial while waiting.
If Lifetime access is still missing after that, contact support with the app version, exact status message and approximate redemption time. This waiting step applies to successful redemption with delayed access; an invalid, expired or rejected code needs its own check. About one day is a practical recheck interval, not a guaranteed activation deadline.
What if Google Play says “already redeemed”, “already owned”, “invalid” or “expired”?
A one-time code does not need to be redeemed again after it succeeds. For already redeemed or already owned, first check the original Google account’s order history and restore purchases. A zero-price Lifetime Premium entry can be the redemption record; an error from a second redemption attempt does not by itself mean Lifetime access has failed.
For an invalid or expired code, check the copied characters and the redemption deadline. For an account or region restriction, record Google Play’s exact message and contact support. Waiting for delayed activation does not make an invalid or expired code valid.
Which Google account matters if my phone has several accounts?
Use the account that bought the app or redeemed the Lifetime code. The browser used for redemption can be signed in to a different account from the Play Store app. Compare the actual accounts, not just profile pictures or initials, and check Google Play → Payments & subscriptions → Budget & history.
Return to Premium and use Restore purchases. Google Play determines which purchases it returns; TslaMirror cannot select an account or inspect every account on the device. Switching the visible Play Store account may not immediately update the purchases returned to the app. Use Multi-account purchase recovery help on the Premium page if needed. Removing accounts or repeatedly reinstalling the app is not a required recovery step.
How can I tell Lifetime Premium is active? Do I need a separate app or monthly subscription?
On the Premium page, check for both Premium active and Lifetime access. “Premium active” alone can also reflect a monthly subscription. A message saying there is no active monthly subscription does not mean that Lifetime access requires one.
Lifetime Premium is an upgrade inside the same TslaMirror app, even if Google Play shows a different icon for the upgrade item. There is no separate Premium app to install. Monthly subscriptions are managed separately; Lifetime access does not automatically cancel them.
Can I keep my purchase when changing phones or switching to iPhone?
On another Android device, use the same purchasing Google account, install TslaMirror from Google Play and restore purchases while online. Existing paid-app users retain Lifetime Premium; a missing status is a reason to check recovery before paying again. See Google Play’s reinstall guide.
App Store and Google Play purchases are separate. An Android purchase or Google Play code does not automatically unlock the iOS app, and an Apple purchase cannot be restored through Google Play.
Does Lifetime Premium cancel my monthly subscription?
No. Getting Lifetime access does not automatically cancel an existing monthly subscription. The app shows monthly subscription and auto-renewal status separately, even with Lifetime access. Use its Google Play subscription management link to review or cancel the monthly subscription.
Are the app’s free access period and Google Play’s subscription trial the same?
No. The app’s free access period provides daily casting allowances. Google Play’s monthly subscription trial is a separate subscription offer for eligible users and renews unless cancelled under the terms shown on the purchase screen. Check the app’s Premium page for your free access end date and Google Play for subscription and auto-renewal status.
How do I find an older Google Play GPA order number?
A Google Play order number looks like GPA.0000-1111-2222-33333 (fictional example showing the format only). Sign in with the Google Account originally used to buy TslaMirror, then try one of these methods:
- Google Play app: profile picture → Payments & subscriptions → Budget & history.
- Google Play website: profile picture → Payments & subscriptions → Budget & Order history.
- Google Payments: open Activity and select the TslaMirror transaction.
- Search the purchase mailbox for “TslaMirror”, “GPA.”, or “Google Play receipt”.
Send the complete GPA number when purchase verification is needed. Do not send passwords, verification codes, full card numbers, identity documents, or other sensitive information. See Google’s order-history instructions.
What happens to users who bought the older paid app?
Existing paid-app users retain lifetime Premium access. The current app also supports purchase restoration and lifetime promo-code redemption.

Privacy and support
What data is transmitted during Android screen sharing?
The picture and supported audio captured by the chosen mode travel from the phone to the Tesla browser over the local hotspot network. Full-screen casting can expose anything visible on the phone screen. In Single-app Casting, notification forwarding is off by default and requires separate notification access and explicit enabling; review the allowed apps and sensitive-text settings before turning it on.
Single-app Casting also uses wireless debugging and pairing permissions. See the permission setup and revocation guide. Public documentation pages may use Google Analytics independently of the app; the data and permissions overview explains the distinction.
TslaMirror and its VPN component do not collect personal information, usage statistics or analytics. Optional screen debug logs are off by default and record only display off/on and restoration information when enabled; you can view, copy, share or clear them. The local web server is not accessible from the public Internet.
