Frequently asked questions

Support guidance updated October 28, 2026.

Use only while parkedComplete setup and operate the phone or Tesla browser only while the vehicle is safely parked. Do not interact with either screen while driving.
Do I install TslaMirror on the Tesla or on my phone?

Install the app on the phone: use the App Store for iPhone or iPad, or Google Play for Android. The Tesla uses its existing browser to open the casting page; you do not install a phone app in the vehicle.

Connect the car to the casting phone’s hotspot and complete the phone setup first. Then open https://TslaMirror.com for iOS or https://TSL6.com for Android in the car browser. A download button on this product website is for your phone. See the iOS or Android connection checks.

Does seeing the phone screen mean I can control it from the Tesla touchscreen?

Not automatically. iOS remote control requires separate TslaMouse hardware and AssistiveTouch; see iPhone control requirements. Android Classic Mirroring requires Remote Control and a connected Accessibility service, while Single-app Casting and Android Auto have their own control paths; see Android touch-control setup.

Check the requirements for your phone and casting mode before purchasing for remote-control use. Basic mirroring, native CarPlay and Android Auto are different features.

Why do older guides call the iOS and Android apps TeslaMirror?

The iOS and Android apps were both previously called TeslaMirror. Both platforms now use the name TslaMirror; the Android app has been renamed to match iOS. Older guides and screenshots may still show TeslaMirror. The existing App Store and Google Play listings, support website, and platform-specific casting addresses remain the same.

Can you screen mirror an iPhone or Android phone to a Tesla?

Yes. TslaMirror for iOS and TslaMirror for Android display the phone screen in the Tesla in-car browser over the phone's private local hotspot connection. The documented vehicle requirement is MCU2 or MCU3 hardware. Use the platform links above for exact setup steps.

How do I mirror an iPhone to a Tesla Model 3 or Model Y?

Connect the Tesla to the iPhone Personal Hotspot, open TslaMirror, enable Proxy, tap Start and Start Broadcast, then open https://TslaMirror.com in the Tesla browser. Keep the iPhone unlocked while mirroring. Note that TslaMirror.com, without the letter “e” after “T”, is different from the official product website TeslaMirror.com. Compatibility depends on MCU2 or MCU3 hardware rather than the model name alone; see the iOS setup instructions.

How do I mirror an Android phone to a Tesla?

Connect the Tesla to the Android phone's hotspot, open TslaMirror, turn on Tesla Proxy, tap Start, and open https://TSL6.com in the Tesla browser. All current mirroring modes use HTTPS; https://TeslaMirror.net:9999 is the direct fallback. See the Android setup instructions for hotspot and video-mode guidance.

Does TslaMirror add AirPlay or Apple CarPlay to Tesla?

No. TslaMirror does not turn the Tesla browser into a native AirPlay or Apple CarPlay receiver. It uses iOS Screen Broadcast and a local hotspot connection to display the iPhone or iPad screen inside the Tesla browser. Follow the Tesla AirPlay and iPhone mirroring guide to choose the correct iPhone control and browser address.

Can I use Android Auto in the Tesla browser?

TslaMirror supports Android Auto Casting with navigation and music apps. Open apps through Android Auto’s built-in menu on the casting screen; resolution choices are fixed at 480p, 720p (default), or 1080p. It requires Android 9 or later, a working Android Auto app, and the in-app Head unit server setup; wireless debugging pairing is not needed. See Android Auto on Tesla: setup and requirements and the comparison with full-screen and Single-app Casting. Set up and use casting only while parked.

Which Tesla models are supported?

The current documented requirement is MCU2 (Intel Atom) or MCU3 (AMD Ryzen) hardware with a working in-car browser. A vehicle model name or model year alone does not confirm its infotainment hardware, so check the vehicle's hardware and follow the platform-specific requirements instead of relying only on a Model 3, Model Y, Model S, or Model X label.

Can I mirror an iPhone or Android phone to a Tesla rear display, and how do I open the connection page?

First, while safely parked, complete the normal front-display preparation for TslaMirror on iOS or TslaMirror on Android and confirm that the app is ready to mirror. The following workaround is intended for Tesla rear displays that do not provide the same direct browser entry as the front display:

  1. On the Tesla rear display, open the built-in YouTube app.
  2. Search for the exact channel name TeslaMirror Support and open the channel.
  3. Tap the TeslaMirror.com website link in the channel description.
  4. On the website, use the connection link shown for iOS or Android, as appropriate.

The channel is TeslaMirror Support on YouTube. This proposed procedure applies to both TslaMirror for iOS and TslaMirror for Android.

Not yet verified: We have not been able to test this procedure on a compatible Tesla rear display. The YouTube interface, ability to open external links, and rear-display browser behavior may vary by Tesla model, region, and software version. Treat this as an unconfirmed workaround rather than guaranteed rear-display support.

Safety: Complete all setup, testing, and troubleshooting only while the vehicle is safely parked. The driver must never operate or be distracted by either display while the vehicle is moving. Any rear-seat use must follow the vehicle's warnings and applicable regional requirements.

Can TslaMirror for iOS or TslaMirror for Android be used while the vehicle is in Drive, and is the Tesla browser available in every region?

TslaMirror for iOS and TslaMirror for Android have no additional regional restrictions and can work wherever a suitable browser is available. However, complete all app setup and testing only while the vehicle is safely parked. The driver must never operate the phone or the Tesla browser while the vehicle is moving. Browser availability does not make driver interaction safe or permitted.

Tesla's in-car browser availability in Drive mode varies according to regional requirements. In a small number of regions, the Tesla browser is unavailable while the vehicle is moving, so both apps can be used through the in-car browser only while parked. Based on the information currently available to us, these regions include Australia, Hong Kong, Macau, and Taiwan. This list may be incomplete and may change with regional requirements, Tesla software, or vehicle configuration.

In most regions, the Tesla browser may remain available in Drive mode. Before driving, and only while safely parked, select the phone hotspot in the Tesla Wi-Fi settings and enable “Remain Connected in Drive”. Check the actual Drive-mode browser support of your Tesla and the applicable requirements in your region before purchasing TslaMirror or TslaMirror. Always follow the vehicle's warnings and regional requirements. If interaction is permitted while the vehicle is moving, it should be performed only by a passenger and never by the driver.

Why does TslaMirror use a local VPN, and does mirroring use mobile data?

The local VPN works around Tesla browser restrictions on standard private-network addresses so the browser can reach the phone. It does not connect to a public VPN server. Mirroring traffic stays inside the phone hotspot network, although the Tesla may still use the phone's cellular data for its own online services.

Where should I download the apps? Is there an official TslaMirror APK?

Download TslaMirror for iOS from the Apple App Store and TslaMirror for Android from Google Play. This website does not provide a separate Android APK. Avoid third-party APK packages that cannot be verified as an official release.

Is the TslaMirror app free?

Android TslaMirror is free to download. During the trial, full-screen, Single-app and Android Auto Casting each have 15 free minutes per day. After the trial, full-screen casting retains 15 free minutes per day with default video settings; the other two modes and custom video settings require Premium. See the Android free plan and Premium explanation. iOS TslaMirror is a separate app; check its App Store listing and in-app purchase options for current pricing. See the iOS download, subscription and Lifetime explanation.

The product website opens, but the casting page does not. Where should I start?

The casting page runs on your phone and needs the prepared hotspot connection. The public support website opening successfully does not confirm that connection. Follow the iOS connection checklist or Android connection and permission checks; the browser addresses and permission steps differ.

Can I restore the same purchase on a new phone or across iOS and Android?

Use the original store account when changing phones on the same platform: follow iOS purchase restoration or Android purchase restoration. App Store and Google Play purchases are separate; a purchase or code from one store does not automatically unlock the other platform.

Why is my Android Lifetime promo code still not active after successful redemption?

Activation can sometimes take about one day, even when the account, network and purchase checks reveal no problem. Wait about 24 hours, then check Premium while online and restore purchases if needed. Do not pay again or start a monthly trial just to resolve the delay. See the Android delayed-activation FAQ, including what to do if access is still missing.

Why do searches or older instructions mention 240.3.3.3, 3.3.3.3, 100.99.9.9, 6.6.6.6, or 7.7.7.7?

240.3.3.3 is still used internally as the iOS app's local virtual IP, but the Tesla browser no longer supports opening it directly. 3.3.3.3 is an old Android browser address. 100.99.9.9 is still used internally as the Android app's local virtual IP, but the Tesla browser no longer supports opening it directly either. None of these three IP addresses is a current user-facing connection URL. 6.6.6.6 and 7.7.7.7 are associated with other mirroring apps and are not official TslaMirror addresses. Current users should open https://TslaMirror.com for iOS, or https://TSL6.com with https://TeslaMirror.net:9999 as the Android HTTPS fallback.

Why do Netflix or other streaming apps show a black screen?

DRM-protected apps may block screen or audio capture. Netflix is not supported, and services such as YouTube TV, Amazon Prime Video, Hulu, or protected live-TV apps may also block video, audio, or both. See the platform FAQ for tested compatibility details.

To distinguish content restrictions from capture, connection or playback problems, follow the iOS black-screen checks or Android black-screen checks.

What data is transmitted during Tesla screen sharing?

TslaMirror send the captured picture and supported audio from your phone to the Tesla browser over the phone’s local hotspot network. The mirroring stream is not routed through a public mirroring server. This does not stop the Tesla or other phone apps from using Internet data for their own services.

Data or permissionWhat it means
Picture and audioContent captured by the selected casting mode is sent to the connected car browser. Sensitive information visible on a mirrored screen can also be seen in the car. DRM or app restrictions may prevent capture.
Android notification forwardingIn Single-app Casting, forwarding is off by default. It requires notification access and explicit enabling. Titles, bodies, and app names may appear on the casting screen; choose the allowed apps and hide sensitive text in settings.
App permissionsOn iOS, Location Services reads the Wi-Fi network name; location data is not stored or collected. Android Single-app Casting requires wireless debugging and pairing. These permissions support connection or casting and can be reviewed in the platform guides.
Public website analyticsThese documentation pages may use Google Analytics, which can process page URLs, referring pages, browser/device information, approximate region, and interaction data, and set cookies. This website measurement is separate from the mirroring apps.

Review the iOS privacy details, Android privacy details, notification settings, and website analytics disclosure. Before casting, close private content and review notification settings.
